The ICLT is a world-leading, unique education and research centre, attracting students and researchers from around the globe.Today’s leather industry is a global business with links from the farm to many of the worlds top brands. The need for new recruits into the industry, from production through to supply, has never been higher. Both our Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses will take place on a theoretical basis enhanced by hands on practical work in both our tannery and laboratories giving you the opportunity to both make and test your own leather. In addition to our academic provision, our short courses (ranging from 1 week to 3 months) are also a perfect grounding for further study or for those already in industry wishing to develop their technical leather knowledge.By collaborating with Northampton you will enter one of the strongest industry alumni groups with our graduates placed in senior positions throughout the world and keen to help you advance your career. Our close relationship with industry means you will frequently network with senior executives, many of whom are Northampton leather alumni. This provides you with the opportunity to build your own network of industry contacts in readiness for your future career.As well as education, the ICLT research programme also reaches world class level. Scientific exploration of new leather processing techniques expands the possibilities of how leather can be used. Modes of engagement with ICLT’s established world leading academics can range from private consultancy or single client contract level through to publicly funded research involving several global research institutes. Our partnerships also take leather developments into engineering, media and fashion.With new Tannery, Laboratory and Teaching facilities opening September 2019 on the Universities brand new Waterside Campus situated in the heart of the town, ICLT is the place for leather!
