PhD from Department of Basic Science in Tanning Research, University of Cincinnati, USA with Dr. Robert Lollar and Mrs. Jean Tancous as advisors.

Degrees in Chemistry & Leather Technology; Chemical Engineering and Master in Engineering (UFRGS, Porto Alegre, Brazil).

 

Professional Experience:

2002 to present: Chemical supplier Technology Director - Leather at Buckman, Memphis, USA. Responsible for leather global R&D and technical support for leather sales worldwide.

1989-2002: Tanner

  • Prime Tanning Rochester USA. Finishing Technical Director

  • Changshu Maydiang Leather, China. General Manager

  • Pfister and Vogel, Milwaukee, USA. Technical Director

  • Curtume Sulberger, Guapore, Brazil. Technical Director

  • 1976 to 1989: Professor

    • Leather Technology lecturer at UFRGS, Porto Alegre, Brazil for 10 years and Director of the Leather Center

    • Professor at the SENAI Leather School in Estancia Velha, Brazil for 2 years

    Career experience over 40 years includes extensive work around the world: - making leather, providing technical support for tanners, problem solving, providing training courses, and presenting research.  Participated in many leather conventions and seminars in more than 30 countries and have visited most of the important global leather research Centers.

     

    Participation in Professional Leather organizations:

    • Since 1976 ABQTIC (Brazilian Leather Association) national and international events and congresses. Currently serving as the Director of International Relations

    • Presented several papers at IULTCS international congresses; starting in Venice, Italy in 1983

    • Chairman of the Scientific Program XXXIII IULTCS Congress in Novo Hamburgo, Brazil 2015

    • Since 2014 Chairman of IUR, ILTCS Research Committee and have actively promoted the Young Leather Scientist Grants (YLSG) and redesigned the IUR web page

    • Ongoing member and active participant of commissions within the ABQTIC (Brazilian Leather Association), ALCA (American Leather Association) and AICC (Italian Leather Association)
