Dr Elton Hurlow

Elton’s leather experience started at Rhodes University in South Africa where he was awarded an MSc degree for an environmental project on vegetable tannins. He moved to the USA in 1987 to take up a research position at Pfister & Vogel tannery. Experience in production and international sales with the USLH Group followed and during this time Elton completed an MBA at the University of Wisconsin. He moved to Canada in 1995 as General Manager of AR Clarke Tannery in Toronto. In 1997 Elton joined the chemical supply industry as Global Market Development Manager for Buckman and moved to the UK in 2015 to take up sales responsibility for Buckman Europe Leather Division.
During Elton’s more than 30 years of experience in the leather industry, he has been President of the ALCA and President of the IULTCS. He has served on the Executive Committee of the Leather Working Group and is on the Editorial board of JALCA. He is a founding member of the GLCC. Elton has published a number of technical papers and is a regular contributor at industry events. He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Northampton in 2015 for his technical and professional contributions to the global leather industry.
