Members of the business committee “Leather Auxiliaries and Colourants” of TEGEWA are the first to commit to the XXXV IULTCS World Congress 2019 in Dresden, Germany.

Congress organiser VGCT, the German Tanning Chemists and Technicians Association, and the respective enterprises signed an agreement during the 6th Freiberg Leather Days conference, which was recently held in Oisterwijk, the Netherlands.

The agreement commits the chemical companies to provide start-up funding to VGCT to enable the commencement of preparations for this outstanding event which will take place in Germany for the first time in almost 25 years.

The Congress theme “Benign by Design” is the overriding principle in many green chemistry and sustainability initiatives such as TEGEWA´s. Much of the business committee´s work is based on the know-how of its members, which is dedicated to leather auxiliaries and colourants. TEGEWA members in the field of leather chemicals have taken great efforts to contribute to the more environmentally friendly treatment and improvement of hides and skins and significantly increase the productivity of the operational processes, the quality of the final products and, most of all, the development of modern chemical solutions that aim to end any negative impact on the environment.

With their financial commitment the companies give essential support to VGCT to achieve congress objectives. These are to promote scientific and technological progress in the leather and collagen industry, particularly in the context of consistent development of the comprehensive concept of “Corporate Social Responsibility” considering all aspects of sustainability equally - environmental protection, human health and social responsibility as well as sustainable management across the industry. In particular, the exchange between developed industrial nations and emerging / developing countries will be a focal point in this process.
